Based at Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley.

As part of Renfrewshire Council’s ambitious plans to transform the image of Renfrewshire and Paisley, we are seeking an internal communications officer to join our communications, marketing and events team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by joining the Council’s Communications service at a time of unprecedented challenge and change - when effective and engaging communications with staff and partners are essential.

The Council believes that in order to meet the challenges of the future it will need to work even more closely with partners to develop and maintain a vibrant local economy, provide a sustainable business and cultural infrastructure and to improve and protect the environment of Renfrewshire. We want to improve opportunities for all those who live and work in the area and we need especially to support the vulnerable, ensuring equality and fairness for all. The Council will not deliver these outcomes on its own – but can if it works closely and effectively with the wider community.

Our internal communications and employee engagement needs to support these aims. As a member of the Corporate Communications team you will be working to develop innovative and exciting campaigns and initiatives that will maximise the effectiveness of staff engagement ensuring that staff are equipped and engaged with the information they require to be effective at their roles to ensure Renfrewshire benefits as a whole from an excellent and joined up communications approach that breathes life into its partnership working.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have previous experience of working in a communications environment in at least one of the following areas: developing integrated communications strategies; proactively developing features; developing well designed and targeted campaigns; maintaining brand consistency; managing the efficient and effective delivery of an organisation’s communications, web and digital content. You will be enthusiastic and have the ability to work to tight deadlines. You will have effective IT, presentation and written skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the council and with our partners. You will also have an enthusiasm for discovering new and innovative ways of communicating with employees and partners. Ideally you will have knowledge and understanding of current policy issues and developments affecting local government and the wider public sector environment.

The post is a three year fixed term contract.
