Glasgow Caledonian University is a vibrant multi-cultural modern university in the centre of Glasgow and is placed amongst the top 150 modern Universities in the world (THE, 2017). Our welcoming community of 20,000 students from more than 100 countries enjoy a wide range of award-winning support services and state of the art facilities across each of our campuses in Glasgow, London and New York. Our University mission, commitment to the Common Good and core values of integrity, creativity, responsibility and confidence is integral to everything we do and how we deliver our mission.
An exciting opportunity to join the IT Service Desk team has become available within GCU Information Services. As part of our continual service management improvement we wish to appoint a Senior IT Assistant on a fixed term basis to help fulfil our Service Desk provision.
You will be a key part of the Service Desk team, aiding staff and students with IT issues and offering solutions through our My Service call management system while demonstrating a high level of customer service. You will bring working knowledge of IT support and will have experience dealing with customer enquires in an effective manner.
It is essential that the prospective role holder has a good working knowledge of IT/AV and how this is used in a business environment. You will be able to clearly explain complex information and technical knowledge in non-technical terms to customers and will demonstrate a high level of customer service skill. As an active member of the Service Desk team you will have the ability to analyse and interpret information, using your initiative to lead in problem resolution and will participate fully in team activities, potentially working within project teams where required. You will demonstrate the ability to organise and prioritise your own workload, maintaining flexibility in line with the service provision needs.
As the University for the Common Good, we are committed to embedding equality and diversity, as well as our values in everything that we do. As such, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who demonstrate the GCU Values.
